Dr. Erich Langer, Initiator der AFS-Flüchtlingshilfe-Stiftung und Ehren-Vorsitzender des Kuratoriums der Stiftung, erhielt neben verschiedenen internationalen "certificates of appreciation",
sowohl das "Goldenen Verdienstzeichen der Republik Österreich" als auch das "Goldene Verdienstzeichen des Landes Oberösterreich" und als erster Europäer den in den USA verliehenen
"Stephen-Galatti-Award" für Verdienste um die Völkerverständigung.

Dr. Erich Langer, initiator of the AFS-Refugee-Aid-Foundation and Honorary Chairman of the Board of the Foundation, received in addition to various international "certificates of appreciation" , both the "Golden Medal of Merit of the Republic of Austria and the "Golden Medal of Merit of the Country of Upper Austria " and is the first European to be awarded the "Stephen Galatti Award" for contributions to international understanding .
